The Tech Life FAQ:
Q: How can you tell the difference between a iPhone 3G and a 3Gs?
A: Although the iPhone 3G and 3Gs look identical, there are a few easy ways to tell what type of iPhone you have. First open up the camera application. Look at the bottom right corner of the screen. If you see a option to switch from taking pictures to taking videos, then you have a iPhone 3Gs. If there is no option then you have an iPhone 3G. Another way to tell is the iPhone 3Gs has a built in compass app located in the utilities box on the home page of your iPhone. If there is no compass app then it is a iPhone 3G. Other differences include a faster processor.
Q: My iPhone 3Gs has a cracked screen. I have my old iPhone 3G that is in good condition, can I use the old screen and digitizer to fix my iPhone 3Gs?
A: No you can not. The connector for the digitizer and glass in the iPhone 3G is different then the iPhone 3Gs. The tab in the middle is wider in the 3Gs then the 3G.
Q: What parts on the iPhone 3G and 3Gs are interchangeable?
A: The list of backwards compatible parts include: The home button, the midframe, the back housing cover, the chrome bezel, the power button, the volume rocker, the vibrate to silent switch, the headphone jack assembly, and the ear speaker. All other parts are different and cannot be interchanged between the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3Gs
Q: Is the otterbox worth really worth it?
A: In short, yes. We did our own testing of the otterbox which can be viewed on our youtube channel.
Q: I dropped my iPhone in water, beer, soda etc...what do I do and can that be fixed?
A: First TURN IT OFF ASAP!!! Next you have two options:
1. Bring it to us asap for our water damage repair.
2. Stick the entire iPhone in uncooked rice and wait 48 hours.
( If the iPhone still does not work after the rice method you can then call Tech Life. The disadvantage of this option is the longer you wait the more the iPhone will start to rust on the inside making it more difficult to recover when you get it to us. )
Q: I tried to fix my iPhone and I can’t put it back together. Can you fix it for me?
A: Yes. Just keep all the parts together.
Q: I forgot my passcode on my iPhone. How to I get into it?
A: You have to plug the iPhone into itunes first and put it into DTFU mode. Then you reset the iPhone to factory settings with iTunes. The downside of this is you will loose any content that was on the iPhone.
Q: How to I put my iPhone into DTFU mode (aka recovery mode)?
A: Plug it into iTunes. Turn the iPhone completely off. Hold the power button and the home button at the same time for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds let go of the power button while continuing to hold the home button. Keep holding the home button until the computer recognizes that it is in Recovery mode.
What is the definition of Tech Life?
1. Tech Life:
Being passionate about technology and utilizing it in your everyday life. Whether it is surfing the web, using your iPhone, staying up all night playing Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 3, fishing for good deals on Google shopping, buying the latest and greatest in home theatre systems or just being a technology buff. The Tech Life is no longer just for the geeks and nerds. Tech Life is for everyone. It doesn’t matter if your a Mac or PC. iPhone or Android. If you use the Internet then you are living the Tech Life one day at a time. Living the Tech Life is instant gratification.
Example: A group of friends are arguing about who sang “Stairway to Heaven.” One of the friends of 100% sure it was done by Eric Clapton but the other friend knew that was not the case but could not remember who actually sang it. The third friend pulled his iPhone 3GS from his pocket and googled Stairway to Heaven and within 5 to 10 seconds the debate was settled. Led Zeplin wrote “Stair way to Heaven” and Eric Clapton wrote “Tears in Heaven.” If that friend was not riding the wave of Tech Life, the debate would probably never been settled.
